My 71st Birthday Confessional
by TerryWalstrom ini was born january 15, 1947in mt.
carmel hospital, detroit, michigan.. within six months of my birth, my mother would bundle her baby boy into a blanket and board an american airlines propeller-driven plane--in effect, leaving my father behind--to return to her hometown, ft. worth, texas.. my dad had an excellent job working for cadillac as an inspector.
it was a union job.

Broken Dreams
by compound complex ini am adrift, without rudder, in a sea of broken dreams.. my mind descends into a tangle of seaweed, which pulls my.
hapless frame downward into a black and sinister realm that.
holds its jailed without pity, with scant hope of future release.. i do love the land and all her beauty but fear the sea; i'm no.

Everyday she watched the ocean mesmerized by it's rippling motion
without it she could not be brave it's spell was like a theta wave
dream on oh woman by the sea like flowers on an orchid tree

If you don't love someone back.
by compound complex inhave you experienced the heartbreak of caring a lot for someone, but they didn't notice you?
or, as the opening title suggests, they love you romantically, but you just want to be friends?.
it has happened to us, i know, as former witnesses, when there were not so many potential marriage mates available (depending where you lived).

I think alot of people are confused by the fantasy of love. The reality is that humans are flawed and people who think that they're always going to be starry eyed will get disappointed. I think the best move is to find a companion that you enjoy being with and someone who wants the same kind of life. Then there's not alot of compromising and emotional distress.

Outside JW World They Barely Exist
by Farmer Jim1 inis anyone else staggered by the fact that outside of the organization most of the general public seem to know very little or nothing about jw’s?
when i was in i was led to believe that 99% of the worlds population had been giving sufficient warning, knew what it was all about and were stubbornly sticking to their immoral ways.
the reality seems to be that the entire jw universe is barely noticeable to the masses.

The prayer switch
by Sour Grapes insomething that i have often thought about is how does god know when our thoughts go from normal thoughts to when we say a silent prayer?
does god listen to all of the thoughts of earth's 8,000,000,000 people 24/7 and when one person goes into prayer mode then god's ears perk up with an "incoming" alert?
then he has to decide if he answers the prayers to help a brother with cancer or just let the poor guy die.

Prayer is such a crazy human activity. I don't think they'll ever stop it's like playing a slot machine maybe this time I'll win.

Must We Always See Heroes OR Villains?
by TerryWalstrom invillains can be heroic.
recite statistics of only the worst or exclusively the best of any person and a distorted conclusion is easy to reach.. __________.
"by the end of his term, president ronald reagan's 138 administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations.".

People are complicated and you really can't judge what people do at different times in history. If we look at our world today we see so many different opinions about public figures and we don't know them or any of the circumstances surrounding whatever event people are writing about.
I personally think it's ridiculous to start tearing down statues, outlawing books that were considered classics, renaming schools. Where does it stop? Is it really worth it? We don't know the facts. If you watch a movie from the 70's you often see how politically incorrect it is with today's social justice warrior standards.
People are acting like an out of control immune system.
